FINAL PRESS REPORT

Inauguration a tremendous success
Extremely positive feedback from both exhibitors and visitors

The inauguration of the concurrently held wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2007 lived up to its objective of functioning as THE region’s platform for the wire, cable, tube and pipe industries. The trade fairs attracted 7,038 trade visitors from more than 60 countries. 33 percent of the visitors came from overseas with a good significant number from China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea and the Middle East.

381 exhibiting companies from 30 countries including national and group pavilions from Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, United Kingdom and USA occupied a gross space of 15,000 sqm. Visiting delegations from India, Vietnam and Malaysia added a further international hue to both the trade fairs.

The trade fairs were opened by Khun Chakramon Phasukavanich, Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Industry on 16 October 2007. Khun Chakramon asserted in his opening address that the hosting of wire and Tube Southeast ASIA in Bangkok “is indeed timely with Thailand’s aspiration to be ‘The Hub of Asia’…” and that both the trade fairs “will provide avenues for the various business sectors to work closely to tap the potentials arising from the regional integration initiatives as well as Thailand’s own initiatives with existing and potential trading partners.” Khun Chakramon added that “Thailand is an exciting growth market in Asia and enjoys a strategic location at the Asia.” Organizer Messe Duesseldorf Asia’s Managing Director, Mr Gernot Ringling concurred with this statement and further mentioned that “Thailand’s central location within the region is opening more trade and investment opportunities” and this bodes well with the staging of both the wire and tube trade fairs in Thailand. Many exhibiting companies shared the same sentiment and expressed their satisfaction on their participation at the trade fairs.

wire Southeast ASIA / Tube Southeast ASIA 2007 Showcase Latest Solutions

The inaugural wire Southeast ASIA / Tube Southeast ASIA 2007 trade fairs will introduce a diversity of cutting-edge technologies, products and solutions to the Southeast Asian wire, cable, tube and pipe sectors from a truly global slate of exhibitors. More than 350 exhibiting companies from over 30 countries including 8 national groups from Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, United Kingdom and USA will make their presence felt at the must-attend and sold-out trade fairs.   Both the concurrently held trade fairs will serve as a platform to introduce, in many cases for the first time to Southeast Asia, tools and solutions with the potential to give industry players a global competitive edge in their business.

India’s Gandhi Special Tubes brings to Tube Southeast ASIA its range of cold drawn and bright annealed seamless steel tubes for hydraulics, cold drawn seamless tubes for high pressure diesel fuel injection, and small diameter (below 12.7 mm OD) welded steel tubes (plain/inside & outside copper plated/outside electro galvanized) for automobile fuel lines and refrigerator condensers.

ISA Technology will introduce the Uhing RGK3-15 and RGK3-20 Rolling Ring Traverse winding drives to the regional market at Tube Southeast ASIA. For a shaft diameter of 15/20mm, the winding drives feature continuous pitch adjustment, automatic reversal, a release lever for moving the traverse freely, maintenance-free design and maximum corrosion protection.

The ability of Tube Southeast ASIA exhibitor Thermatool to vary the welding frequency at the operator’s console in 1 kHz increments from 150 to 400 kHz has revolutionized the high frequency (HF) tube welding process. Thermatool has now extended the capabilities of variable frequency HF welding to its HAZ Control Technology. For the first time, an operator has the information required on hand to consistently make the best weld. The combined effects of weld power, frequency, vee length, impeder function and wall thickness are now displayed on the operator’s console in a simple way. Visitors to Tube Southeast ASIA can learn more about this groundbreaking development.

The economic and industrial outlook in neighbouring countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia are also positive.

Foreign investors continue to view Thailand as an attractive location for export-oriented production operations.  Thailand’s Board of Investment reports foreign and domestic investment applications received in the first five months of 2007 were up 12 percent year-on-year and valued at USD 5.6 billion (up 73 percent). In terms of investments approved, the number was up slightly by 3.5 percent but a more positive sign was the value of approvals -- up an impressive 86 percent to USD 8.35 billion.
